Why Women’s Circles?

Women have always gathered. It's not complicated.

There's something that happens when women are in a room together without an agenda, without performance, without anyone telling them how to feel.

Our circles are a space to slow down and just be. To connect with the rhythm of the seasons, with each other, and with whatever is alive for you right now. You can share and you can listen. Both are equally spacious..

No fixing. No facilitating your feelings. Just women, together, in a space that's genuinely safe

What to Expect

Each circle follows a gentle rhythm, but no two are the same.

We begin together, settling in, lighting a candle, setting an intention for the evening. There's a grounding practice that's physical and simple, something to bring you out of your head and back into your body after whatever the day has been at you.

We use a talking bowl. The woman who holds it speaks, and everyone else listens. Not politely listens. Actually listens, without jumping in, offering advice or trying to fix anything. Just women hearing each other, which turns out to be rarer and more powerful than it sounds.

Some circles are anchored in a theme, the season, a sabbat, a goddess, an aspect of the feminine. Some nights there are several opportunities to talk and share. Others we get out of our heads and into our bodies through drum journeys or guided meditation.

As shamanic craftswomen we work with the inner mother, the maiden, the maga, the crone, the different seasons of a woman's life and of each month and year. We don't hold a specific belief or practice. At the core is the knowledge that we all arrive as experts in our own lives, and that being in circle helps us hear ourselves more than anything else.

The form changes. The direction is always inward.

We close, and whatever you came in with usually feels a bit different on the way out.

We love seeing women return, and welcoming new faces.

Women’s Circle
from $30.00

A calm, in-person gathering where women come together to sit, listen, share if they wish, and connect in a respectful, welcoming space.

Women’s Circle at The Gathering Space

A women’s circle is a simple, in person gathering where women come together to slow down and spend time together in a calm and respectful space.

We meet in a circle so no one is at the front and nothing is expected of you. There is gentle facilitation, but the space is shaped by the women who attend. You are welcome to share, or to simply listen. Both are equally valued.

Each circle unfolds naturally, guided by what is present on the day. Some gatherings may have a gentle theme or focus. If so, it will be noted in the event details.

These circles offer a chance to pause, reflect, and connect alongside other women. They are open to women of all ages and stages. No experience is needed, and you are welcome to come on your own.

What to expect

  • A gentle welcome and time to settle in

  • Opportunities to share or simply listen, with no pressure to speak

  • Simple reflective or creative practices inspired by cycles and seasons

  • Storytelling, conversation, and meaningful connection

  • Time for grounding, rest, and nourishment

  • Freedom to participate in whatever way feels right for you

Most women leave feeling more connected to themselves, to others, and more settled than when they arrived.

About Your Facilitators

Anna-Maria and Jen hold these circles together. Between them they bring midwifery, naturopathy, herbalism and shamanic womancraft. Warm, real and occasionally funny. You can read more about them here.

Anna Maria Doula Naturopath Nutritionist, Herbalist, Shamanic Womancraft, Paddington Eastern Suburbs Sydney

Anna-Maria is a Doula, Nutritionist, Herbalist and Shamanic Womencrafter who has been holding women's circles and rites of passage for more than a decade.

She is fascinated by myth, legend and the truth beneath the feminine experience. A double Scorpio, she is not afraid of taboo or the harder things. She brings the sacred and the witchy, and shows up in her own truth in a way that gives other women permission to do the same. In her circles, women are seen with kindness and compassion, exactly as they are.

Anna-Maria handcrafts all the herbal teas you'll find at The Gathering Space. Her hope is that you leave feeling just a little more at home in yourself and the world around you.

Jen is a private midwife, circle facilitator and Shamanic Womencrafter who has been initiated into the mysteries of life and death. She has been supporting women at the crossroads of birth for over 17 years.

She is fascinated by the alchemical process of becoming that all women have access to during their rites of passage. She is known for her practical wisdom, down-to-earth warmth and a slightly wicked sense of humour.

In circle, Jen weaves in stories from her own journey and those she has witnessed, always honouring the uniqueness of each woman's path. Her wish is that each woman leaves feeling more connected to her intuition and certain of the wisdom she carries within.
